RESIDENTS concerned over the effects development at Bromsgrove Rovers' Victoria Ground may have on their homes can air their views at a public meeting called for next week.

The meeting is set to take place at Parkside Middle School, in Stourbridge Road, on Thursday, July 24, at 7pm.

It has been called by a group of local residents who fear any development of the Birmingham Road ground and adjacent land may have a detrimental effect on their properties.

They are also worried that congestion on already busy main roads skirting the ground will be made worse, which in turn will give rise to increased noise and air pollution.

Don Ross, the group's spokesman, said anyone living in Victoria Road, Birmingham Road and Stourbridge Road, or the vicinity, is welcome to go along to the meeting.

Tom Herbert, the club chairman, and Bill Newnes, Labour district councillor for Sidemoor, have been invited to attend.

Mr Ross said: "The meeting has been called to gauge the public's response and pick up on any points which may form the basis of questions we plan to forward to the district council for answers."

Cllr Newnes, along with Labour group leader Cllr Peter McDonald (Waseley) have put forward a motion for next Tuesday's meeting of the full council calling for a cross-party steering committee to be set up to oversee any developments regarding the Victoria Ground.
