AN angry mother-of-two is feeling rather hot under the collar - because she can't have a shower.

Gaynor Amphlett has been unable to use the shower at her Pershore home for two days because of low water pressure.

And Mrs Amphlett, of Hurst Road, is demanding that Severn Trent, which provides the water, takes immediate action to return the water pressure to normal.

"I've rung Severn Trent numerous times, but they keep fobbing me off and haven't given me a satisfactory answer as to why the water pressure is so low," said Mrs Amphlett, aged 42.

"It's terrible that, on two of the hottest days of the year, my family has been unable to have a shower," she said.

She claims the water pressure problem began on Monday morning when she turned on the tap and muddy, brown water came out.

"I didn't know what was happening or whether it was safe to use, so I rang Severn Trent at 8am.

"They told me to run the tap until the water turned clear, which I did.

"But, ever since then, our water pressure has been so low we've been unable to have showers and the toilet is taking ages to fill up - it's just not on.

"My daughter Kerry and my son Richard have had to go to work without showers, which is terrible."

And her father-in-law, Raymond Amphlett, who lives in nearby Avon Road, has also been having problems with water pressure.

"I'm really worried about my boiler because the water level in it is dangerously low," said 68-year-old Mr Amphlett.

"I've told Severn Trent that, if it implodes, I'll be sending them the bill for a new one."

Temperatures in Pershore reached 32.5C yesterday, making it the ninth hottest spot in the country.

A spokesman for Severn Trent said high demand was causing low water pressure in the area.

"This unusually high demand suggests some people are leaving sprinklers running overnight," said the spokesman.

"Severn Trent is in the process of bringing water into the area from another source and we're doing everything we possibly can to get things back to normal as quickly as possible."
