Control Your Divorce - The Questions To Answer by Jody Beveridge and Jan Bennett (Foulsham Publishing, £8.99)

IT is often said that bereavement is the most traumatic event with which people have to deal.

That's undoubtedly true, but divorce runs it a very close second.

Aside from the emotional upheaval that divorce brings, there are the vital practical issues of caring for children and organising finances to be resolved.

Throw in feelings of confusion and uncertainty - and the involvement of the legal system - and anyone who has to confront divorce could be forgiven for believing there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

There are any number of books which aim to help men and women through the crisis and this one, by barrister Jody Bever-idge and solicitor Jan Bennett, is a worthy addition to the list.

In plain English, the duo, both experts in family law and both with personal experience of marital breakdown, deal with every step of the divorce process.

They are right that every relationship breakdown is different but it's equally true that common themes run through each case. This sensitive book picks up the many questions prompted by every divorce and gives down-to-earth answers.

It takes the reader by the hand and leads them to the point where it's possible to see that there is life beyond divorce.
