a report on the impact of Waitrose on Great Malvern town centre was completed in March, but the public may have to wait until September to see its results.

The report was to have been unveiled at a public meeting on the future of the town centre due to be held this week, but that meeting has now been put back until September.

It was commissioned by the supermarket chain in 1999, following the opening of its shop in Edith Walk, and carried out by the Civic Trust, a leading charity aimed at improving the quality of urban life in Britain.

To compile the report, the trust did periodic surveys of shoppers and businesses in the town, and monitored changes in the types of shops and vacancies.

Diane Smith, of the Civic Trust, said the meeting had been postponed at the request of Malvern Hills District Council, which appointed a new town centre co-ordinator this week.
