A BIDFORD man who has had raw sewage pumped through his shower and toilet for the past 17 years believes the problem will worsen unless action is taken.

Multiple sclerosis sufferer Robert Wheeler felt he was being fobbed off by the authorities after making repeated calls to health authorities, environmental health and housing associations.

In April workmen finally made repairs to the cracked sewage pipe, which was believed to have been damaged when gas pipes were laid almost two decades ago.

But Mr Wheeler said his shower, toilet and sinks blocked up twice in five days last week and he now feels he is back to square one.

Mr Wheeler said the source of the problem was a piece of pipe which had been left in the system and was causing a blockage.

This has now been removed but Mr Wheeler discovered that joints in the pipe were loose and believes it is only a matter of time before the problems worsen.

"Councillor Daren Pemberton has got a video of the evidence and I've kept the piece of pipe which they left in the pipe," Mr Wheeler said. "I'd considering suing if this continues, I think I've got a good case."

Seeping

Mr Wheeler, aged 47, has experienced sewage coming into his house and covering the footpaths outside his home after seeping through nearby manholes.

South Warwickshire Housing Association spokesman Simon Brader said the association was aware of the problems and would now enlist another company to carry out a detailed investigation.

He added that Transco had said it could take up to a year for the gas pipes to settle so they might not know the full extent of the problems for another year.
