AN Eden Project-style roof will be put in place as the crowning glory of the new £16m DTC development at Kidderminster Hospital next week.

Crescent Road will be closed for three days from Monday and parts of the patients' car park will be cordoned off to allow cranes to lift the transparent roof into place over a three-storey high central atrium.

The roof is made of the same self-cleaning plastic which is used in the bio-domes of the famous Eden Project in Cornwall.

A new heavy-duty air conditioning plant will be put on top of the new Diagnostic and Treatment Centre at the same time.

The first phase is on target to open by the end of the year.
