Tenbury 2nd 197 Claverley 2nd 200-0-

TENBURY'S limited bowling attack was found wanting as visiting Claverley plundered 200 runs without loss off only 32 overs to cruise to victory in this Worcestershire League Division Four Reserve clash at Penlu.

Skipper Mark Harrington was pleased to win the toss and elected to bat on a good wicket with the sun beating down.

He opened with Steve Giles and they put together an untroubled 99 for the first wicket until Harrington just failed to middle a drive in the 25th over and was caught on the edge for 41.

Paul Higgins joined Giles and made a brisk 20 before falling to a smart catch behind the wicket.

When Giles departed for a well crafted 55 with the total standing at 146, this signalled the start of a middle-order collapse.

It took a late flourish by home batters Ian Bowkett (13) and Darren Thompson (25) to lift Tenbury to a respectable 197.

Claverley's openers quickly worked out the limitations of the home bowling strength and Chris Mullis was particularly severe on the bowling in hitting a rapid 102 not out until he retired with a touch of heat exhaustion.

However his partner Tim Mills took up the roll of run maker and eased Claverley to a 10-wicket win, and 20 points, in the 32nd over.
