ON May 7, there was a cream tea at Kings Court Hotel.

On May 13, 40 members and friends enjoyed a visit to the Rococo Gardens and had lunch. They then went on to Prinknash Abbey, where they were welcomed by the abbot, Dom Fraser Bird, who gave a talk. The outing was a great success.

After the lunch on May 14, the president read out a thank you card from Joan Wilkinson, who is in Alcester Hospital but is improving and hoped to be back soon.

Speaker Jim Clarke gave a slide show on The English Country Garden.

Jim lives in Studley and is a member of the Studley Camera Club and specialises in wildlife photography. He was accompanied by his projectionist Ken Brown from Redditch.

The show started with slides taken in Jim's previous garden. He showed how he prepared a hide and perch in order to take slides of the birds and wild animals which visited the garden.

His patience was well rewarded with excellent pictures.

As well as birds and wildlife, there were slides of flowers and shrubs shown in great detail, some of which had been taken as competition entries for a camera club.

The meeting on Wednesday, June 11, will be the AGM with election of officers followed by a quiz.
