YOUNGSTERS are promised a wizard time at a public reading of the very latest Harry Potter book.

SPLAT Youth Club has organised a magical narration of Harry Potter - The Order of the Phoenix on the first day of its publication.

From 10am on Saturday, June 21, fans are invited to take a pew at St Andrew's Church, off High Street, and hear the novel read out chapter by chapter. A number of community figures are invited to read, including Spa MP Peter Luff.

"This could be the first public reading of The Order of the Phoenix in Britain!," said youth club secretary, Margaret Brown.

SPLAT members are being sponsored to take part and all cash collected is going to Worcester's Snoezelen Multi-Sensory Centre for the disabled. The book is being donated by W H Smith and will also be handed over to Snoezelen.

Margaret expects page turning to go on into the early hours - possibly to 3am on Sunday, June 22. She told the Advertiser: "The group is quite proud of this novel way of fundraising and I expect it to be great fun. Anyone is welcome to join in, whether it be for half an hour or three. All we ask for is small donation."

SPLAT meets on Saturday nights at Droitwich Methodist Church, in Worcester Road. It boasts around 40 members, aged 11 to 16, and is inviting ten-year-olds and new faces to get a taste of youth fun this Saturday at a special open evening. The Angels in Exile double decker bus is booked and admission is £2, although most weeks it's just £1.

The fun will run between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.
