AN adventurous bin man will be travelling thousands of miles across the world to take part in a sponsored trek for the Acorn Children's Hospice.

Trevor Brookes, who works in Bromsgrove, will hike and canoe through the dense Amazonian rainforest in the foothills of the Andes, in Ecuador next February. Trevor will also spend some time in the country's capital, Quito.

"I'm really excited about this. It's an enormous challenge but it's for a terrific cause," said Trevor, who lives in Tolladine, Worcester.

Trevor has to raise £2,500 and is asking townsfolk and companies to dig deep in their pockets and pledge funds for the trek.

Trekking Trev is no novice at fundraising. He has previously completed the Inca trail in Peru for the Acorns and in 2001 he took part in a Himalayan hike for the Youth Hostel Association.

He has been training in the Malvern Hills to prepare himself for the trek.
