M BURCHER thinks I know very little about religious faiths (You Say, May 20). I suppose that means I must have obtained my 2:1 honours degree in Theology and Religious Studies through bribery.

Many bad things happened in the past, as M Burcher says. However, they happen today too. In Muslim countries today, Christians are beaten and killed for their faith.

More subtly, in many countries, the Roman Catholic Church wields much power and pressurises governments to restrict evangelism by Evangelical Protestants.

Though her strategies may have changed, the Roman Catholic Church remains the same. She still teaches the false gospel that man can be saved through obedience to the Church instead of through faith alone in the completed atonement of Christ.

Hence, Rome is still the enemy of true Christianity.
