Members of the New Inn Friendly Society held their anniversary on Whit Monday with the Blackheath Brass Band leading the procession. They paraded through Bournheath and Catshill after enjoying a successful year with the addition of 11 new members.

A brickmaker was hauled before the courts for attacking a woman at her home in Stoney Hill. George Edwards charged into the home and struck George Bauer's wife following a quarrel with her husband. The defendant, who was drunk at the time of the incident, received a hefty fine of £1 5s and 6d (£1.27) from the bench.

rESIDENTS were shook when a severe thunderstorm hit Bromsgrove. Heavy rain flooded the roads, a tree was struck by lightning in Aston Fields and the roof was stripped off a home in Sidemoor.

The proposal to form an ambulance brigade in connection with the St John Ambulance Association was beginning to take shape. Thirty members turned out to the preliminary hearing at the town hall.

The town was in shock when a woman, who had previously visited Bromsgrove, threw herself in front of an express train. Katherine Ann Deykin, who had been suffering from mental trouble, was discovered on the Midland Railway near Newton. She had been staying at Conway House in Old Station Road before she committed suicide.
