THIS week's results start with the Furnace Mill Bank Holiday, two-day festival, held over three matches.

On Sunday, May 25, Stourbridge matchman Andy Newton (Lifestyle) led the way from peg 21 on the Furnace pool with a pole, chopped worm and caster catch of 58-6-0. Second was Dave Parry (MN Autos) with 48-4-0 and third was Paul Maybury's (MN Autos) 42-3-0.

Monday's morning match went to Sean Moss (Furnace Mill) with 24-6-0 taken with pole and casters from Mucky Meadow pool peg 48. Parry was again runner-up with 24-1-0; third, Andy Newton, 19-1-0. The afternoon event saw Parry take his very first ton-up catch of 100-8-0 by pole fishing the margins of Furnace peg 30 with worms and casters. Maybury followed with 82-6-0 while third was Sean Moss' 79-12-0. Parry was the overall festival winner with 18 points; second Andy Newton 17; third Paul Maybury 16.

The Broad Acres Bank Holiday Monday open was held on the Stock pool where Dug Greenow (Solihull Angling Centre) pole fished corn down the margins of peg six for a 63-1-0 catch. Geoff Hunt (Triplex) was second with 38-15-0 from peg seven and Pete Willis (Solihull Angling Centre) took 33-8-0 for third.

There was a double header at Woodlands View with Antony Rogers (Preston Innovations) starting the day by taking a 79-5-0 catch with pole, corn and meat from Deans pool peg 28. Second Matt Tranter (Sensas Midland Match) had 55-5-0 while third went to Derek Hammond's (Oxford Drennan) 55-1-0. The evening event saw Rogers go even better with a 152-5-0 Carp haul from Deans peg 59. Hammond's 139-5-0 was second and third was Mick Dagnall (Sensas Midland Match) with 111-15-0. Rogers took the winners' purse of £190 with a two-match 12-point tally.

On Tuesday, the Woodlands View affordable open was won by Alan Jones (DGL) with a pole, worm and caster mixed catch of 72-9-0 from Deans pool peg 32. Barry Council (Woodlands) was second with 54-10-0; third, Dave Kemp (Dudley AC), 41-12-0.

The Northfield Starlets Veterans were at Moorlands Farm where Stan James (Bewdley) pole fished maggots and casters up in the water at Meadow pool peg eight for 80-15-0. Brian Hill (Stourport) was second with 42-1-0 and third was Terry Kavanagh's (Stourbridge) 41-8-0.

At Moorlands Farm, the junior open was won on the Silver Carp pool by 14-year-old Jason Hall (Stourport) with a 49-2-0 catch taken with pole fished corn. Second was Grant Nock (Wednesbury) with 43-14-0 and third, Frazer Hall (Stourport), taking 42-5-0.

Andy Newton (Lifestyle) topped Wednesday's Moorlands Farm Meadow pool open by pole fishing corn and meat at peg 30 for 96-6-0. Team mate Mark Tooze was second with 84-7-0; third, John Cockayne, 80-3-0.

Astwood Fisheries' Bluebell pool open was headed by Clive Duggan (Droitwich Angling Centre) with a pole and meat catch of 65-11-0 from peg 19. Peter Bailey (Droitwich Angling Centre) took 50-6-0 for second; third, Paul Webley (Kateshill AC), 26-8-0.

The KH Veterans held its Thursday event on Moorlands Farm's Silver Carp pool. Mick Scott (Bewdley) was first with a pole, worm and caster catch of 35-2-0 from peg 32. Terry Kavanagh (Stourbridge) was second with 22-14-0; third, Brian Hill (Stourport), 22-2-0.

The Woodlands View Friday afternoon Deans pool open was won by Les Thompson (Shakespeare) from the shallows of peg 62 where he pole fished worms and casters to take 120-12-0. Klaus Fix (Tek Neek Trabucco) was second with 108-14-0 and third, Chris Hill (Woodlands), taking 52-10-0.

At Broad Acres, Pete Sanford (Bronx) won the main lake open by pole fishing casters up in the water at peg 48 for 35-11-0 of Carp and Roach. Second, John Harris (Triplex), 25-13-0; third, Graham Upton (Rover), 25-7-0.

Round three of the Moorlands Farm Summer League saw Jason Neath (Shakespeare) take the individual honours worth £500 from golden peg four on Meadow pool, where he pole fished worms and casters for 58-3-0. Adam Toal (Superslam) was a close second with 55-3-0; third, Phil Weaver (Mosella SW), 42-4-0. Shakespeare was the day's team winners with 11 points; Gold 18; Mosella SW 19. Strike Angling lead the league with 11; Shakespeare 12; Gold 15.

Last Sunday, the Wassell Grove open was a silver fish only event and was held on the specimen pool. Leading a close fought contest was Mick Weston (Cock and Magpies) who pole fished worms and casters at peg three for 23-14-0 of Tench. Team mate Pete Davis was a close second with 23-2-0; third, Keith Woodhead (Ovation Leisure), 16-3-0.

Bromsgrove Labour Club held their event on Broad Acres' Charlies pool with Gary Pinfield taking an excellent mixed catch of 35-11-0 by pole fishing casters and worms in the margins of peg three. Alan Beech was second with 20-15-0 while third was Alan Kirkham's 13-3-0.

Kings Norton AS staged round three of their summer league at Stoke Works. Topping the list was Bromsgrove's John Miller, who pole fished disco pinkies at peg one for 1-8-0 of Gudgeon and Perch. Second, Ian Rainbow 1-5-0; third, Ron Allen, 13 ounces four drams.

Peter Bailey (Droitwich Angling Centre) was the clear winner of the Astwood Fisheries' Smokey Joes pool open when he put 62-7-0 of Carp on the scales by pole fishing corn at peg 31. John Savings (Sheldon Heath) was runner-up with 36-12-0 and third was Barry Perkins' (Staffs Angling) 26-0-0.

Mal Watson (Shakespeare) won the Moorlands Farm open by pole fishing casters and worms up in the water at Bank pool peg 22 for 78-15-0. Alan Higgs (Smithies) followed with 56-0-0 and third, Ian Lockley (Map Starlets), 44-2-0.

Furnace Mill held a Sunday afternoon match on the Mucky Meadow and Willow pools where Jez Williams (Strettons) took a 52-2-0 net by pole fishing corn at peg 59 for first prize. Second, Ron Edwards (Swan Jacks), 38-0-0; third, Andy Newton (Lifestyle), 33-4-0.
