WE all had a great weekend at Worcester with our victory coming 24 hours after rivals Rotherham slipped up.

People tell me that England had a good win as well!

The less said about the Welsh performance, the better! Apart from that, we all enjoyed a very good set of results.

I must admit I was a little surprised by Rotherham's defeat at home to Exeter but I've always thought the top sides would drop points over the course of the season and that's how it is turning out.

I am hoping to be in contention for our match at Bedford on Saturday after some intensive treatment on my hamstring injury.

I have been jogging and felt no ill effects while the physio has been great with me. I will sprint for the first time today on it so that will be the crunch time to see if I'm available for selection. I am really desperate to get out and play again after missing two weeks now and would love to lead the team out at Goldington Road.

We go into the game on the back of the 32-6 win over Bracknell which, in the end, was a great result because we got the four tries and the bonus point. The performance though, needs to be improved if we are to keep progressing. I've watched the video of the match and I think we failed to give the backs a good enough platform to do their jobs. The line-outs were not as good as we would have wanted and I'm sure we will improve on that because we work very hard on set piece plays.

We are making individual errors, maybe only small ones but they mount up over the course of a game and we must cut them out. We are professional rugby players and should know exactly what we have to do when we get out on to the pitch. People have to take individual responsibility and make sure we all know exactly what the calls and the moves are.

The Bracknell match was very frustrating for the supporters at Sixways and I can understand their feelings because they expect to be entertained by us. The only thing I would ask of supporters is maybe some patience because it is still 15 men against 15. Sometimes, if the opposition are well organised or a few things are going wrong for us, it takes time to get the tries on the board.

In times when things are not going our way, we really need the crowd's backing because we are all in this together. The supporters can play a big part by shouting for us and making Sixways an intimidating place to visit.

That's what we all want, Sixways to build up a reputation as a tough place to come. When we talk about supporters playing an integral part in success, it's not just talk - the support makes a big difference to players.

Saturday is a real occasion for a number of Worcester players who return to their old haunts. Ben Hinshelwood, Joe Ross, Dan Zaltzman, Dave Sims, Tony Yapp and Alistair Murdoch go back to Bedford and will be desperate to put on a show for their ex supporters. It's a funny thing about sport that eventually you have the chance to pit your wits against old team-mates - I know I would love to go back to Gloucester next season with Worcester! I remember when I played for Pontypridd and the coach had a policy that he wouldn't pick players to face their former team. That seemed crazy to me because I've always believed that players are even more motivated when they go back to their old club. Certainly don't bet against Ben popping up with a try at Bedford!
