THEY may have struggled all season for players but West Midlands League Division One South champions Kidderminster Harriers Ladies are not fazed.

The town team, based at Wilden Village Cricket Club, want to run two teams next season and so are embarking on a summer recruitment drive.

As well as taking their place in the Premier Division, they want to put a team in the Kidderminster County Women's League.

Chairman Lester Pollard admitted: "We have struggled all year for players and in our last game we ended up with just nine due to injuries.

"But we really want to push for a second team next season."

Kidderminster have mainly benefited from young prospects who were playing for Ferndale Girls U-16s.

The loss of experienced players was one of the reasons they refused to take up a Midland Combination place in the past after winning the Premier Division.

It led to league bosses demoting them further down the scale but they responded by losing just once in the competition.

Boss Mike Kirby-Davies said: "If we get the chance of promotion to the Combination again we shall take it because this time we have youth on our side.

"But the Premier Division is getting stronger every year so I would be happy with a top-five finish."

Potential players must be aged 14 or over and anyone interested in joining the club can call Pollard on 01299 266465.
