DAVID Officer has become Worcester's 13th close-season signing at Sixways.

The 29-year-old outside centre signed a two-year contract yesterday after deciding to swap Edinburgh for Worcester and their all-important promotion push next season.

Officer, who toured with Scotland two years ago in New Zealand, previously worked with Andy Keast at Harlequins and Worcester's assistant coach was delighted to have landed his man.

"David is a talented player who has the ability to play outside or inside centre," said Keast. "He will primarily, however, be coming to Worcester as an outside centre. I'm delighted he has come to Worcester because he is the type of player we want -- hungry to play and to be successful."

Officer's arrival, however, means the end of the line for Chris Yates at Sixways.

Yates had been training at Worcester since the end of the season in the hope of a new deal but Keast and director of rugby John Brain eventually plumped for the former Scotland international. Yates could now link up with Perpignan.

Meanwhile, Ben Hinshelwood will be Scotland's full-back for their clash with USA 'A' tonight at Portland, Oregon.

Worcester's number one outside centre is hoping for a good performance to put him in line for his first Test start against the full USA side on Saturday.
