WORCESTER Rugby Club's getting-to-know-you session took place yesterday as their new crop of players began to settle into their surroundings.

Most of the 17 new faces, drafted in during a summer of upheaval at Sixways, met their team-mates and coaches for the first time as they prepared for a vital season in National One which begins in September.

For Jim Jenner it was very much a case of "great to be back" following a 12-month spell in the Zurich Premiership with Rob Andrew's Newcastle Falcons.

And for former Gloucester colleagues such as Kingsley Jones, Chris Yates and Elton Moncrieff there was a chance to catch up with other Kingsholm escapees Dave Sims, Nathan Carter and Tony Windo.

Jenner said: "You forget just how professional the club is and the facilities are just top class.

"I've certainly missed the indoor training pitch here -- it tends to get a bit nippy up in Newcastle! I just can't wait to get going and start the season."

Yates, who also knows new coaches John Brain and Peter Finch from his days with the Cherry and Whites, added: "Everything was very professionally handled. The coaches set out their vision for the way we should play and work ethic that has to be put in to make us a Premiership side.

"As long as 32 players stick to that, I think we should enjoy a successful time."

Jones, who buzzed around the new faces with boundless enthusiasm, added: "It's fantastic to meet all the guys.

"I obviously know a few of the players from my Gloucester days, but it's important to get to know the other members of the squad as quickly as possible and make them feel welcome."
