POWERHOUSE winger Craig Hudson has warned top try scorer Chris Garrard - I'm after your crown.

The 6ft 6in star, weighing in at 17stone, has already trawled through last season's record books to check up on his competition for this campaign.

And after Garrard's superb tally of 25 National One tries last term, Hudson is already eyeing new Sixways records.

"I'm looking at knocking off the record," he said.

"I've noted he scored 25 tries and we have a joke about it. Everyone that plays sport is competitive - that is the nature of players.

"There are always going to be little competitive jibes going on between the guys. If you're not competitive you shouldn't be here at Worcester.

"It's not bad banter - we're not having a go at one another but what it does is keep you on your toes. I am very keen to knock off the record and Chris knows that."

Hudson, Garrard and fellow new boy Nnamdi Ezulike will battle for the winger's spots this season with competition for places hotter than ever at Sixways.

But rather than shying away from the challenge, Hudson is relishing the fight.

"I'm looking forward to it," he added. "On paper there is a lot of competition and it's going to be hard to stay in the starting line-up. If you have one bad game there is someone waiting to jump in so the pressure is on.

"All three of us offer the coaches three different things. Nnamdi's outstandingly quick, his change of pace is impressive. Chris was just born to play rugby. He's quick, elusive and he's strong too. I'm determined, tho-ugh, to make a big impact here at Worcester, beginning with Coventry on August 31."
