POWERHOUSE prop Alejandro Moreno is intent on making a big impact at Worcester Rugby Club this year after being given a second chance.

The 17-and-a-half stone Argentine is delighted to have clinched a summer move to Sixways after a switch to Worcester fell through 12 months ago.

Moreno trained with last year's squad for a week but was then snapped up by Italian club Parma before any offer could be put to the 28-year-old.

However, the player who is comfortable at loose or tight-head is now determined to make the most of his second chance.

This comes later today when he makes his debut against Irish side Clontarf in Worcester's opening pre-season test.

"I'm very happy to be here after what happened last time," he said.

"It was just a bit of a mix-up I think with the move last time but, everything has worked out OK in the end.

"English rugby is very good for me - it suits my game.

"Of course there are very good players already at Worcester in my position but I hope to play."

Moreno has already displaced last year's 'Mr Consistent' Neil Lyman from his place in the front row but knows he has a battle on his hands to win a regular spot in the team.

However, he is looking to do everything in his power to impress the coaching staff, including taking English lessons.

"I speak French, Italian and very little English!

"I think though after a couple of months of lessons I will be able to speak the language better which will help me.

"I understand it, just speaking it is difficult!

"I am very happy here at Worcester, I just want the season to start."
