JOHN Brain believes Tony Windo is in the best form of his Worcester Rugby Club career.

The Sixways director of rugby has been delighted with the 33-year-old's performances this season as Worcester have won five out of five National One games.

The loose-head prop scored his second try in successive matches on Saturday as Worcester destroyed Manchester 66-22 and Brain praised his overall display.

"I've known Tony for a long time since our days at Gloucester," said Brain. "But I think at the moment he is probably playing as well as he ever has.

"He has taken on a main voice in the forwards which is very good and I think him being made captain of the English Counties side has contributed to that.

"He went away in the summer with that team and has gone from strength to strength since his return. He is showing his quality on the field."

Brain was today assessing the injury list ahead of Saturday's Sixways showdown with Bedford Blues.

However, with tight-head prop Neil Lyman back in full training, the former Gloucester coach was hoping to have near to a fully fit squad to choose from.

Christian Evans is nursing a shoulder injury as is Duncan Roke while Jon Higgins took a bang on the knee at Grove Park. Craig Chalmers is still troubled by a hamstring problem but all four are hoping to make Saturday's clash.
