JON Higgins is hoping to make a habit of playing with half back partner John O'Reilly.

The 21-year-old fly half start ed his first Worcester Rugby Club match today at Bracknell in the Powergen Cup third round tie.

And not only is Higgins delighted to be getting his first taste of starting a first team match, he is pleased to be alongside O'Reilly.

"It's very exciting for me," he said. "I've played with John a number of times already in the second team games and we compliment one another very well.

"It's nice for us to get a chance and I'm definitely up for it. It is a good opportunity for us both and obviously we hope to make an impression on the coaches."

With James Brown sidelined until January following back surgery, Higgins is likely to get much more game time in the coming weeks as coaches John Brain and Andy Keast manage Craig Chalmers through games.

And the former academy starlet is determined to take his chance with both hands.

"James Brown is a great player but his absence gives me an opportunity," added Higgins. "It's one I am excited about and I have to take this chance.

"The great thing about it is that I have so much experience around me with John O'Reilly, Ben Hinshelwood and Chris Garrard so they will help me. I am confident in my own ability though and I certainly won't let people down."

The Bracknell match will also see 20-year-old academy ace Neil Starling take his place on the bench for the first time.

After moving from Moseley, the youngster has already made a big impression at Sixways.

"He has done very well," said director of rugby Brain. "He has impressed us in United games and is certainly one for the future."
