HORRENDOUS parking problems on a Droitwich Spa estate are being steered towards a solution.

In April, the Advertiser revealed the plight of Crofters Way and Paddock Way householders, who were being driven mad by car chaos in their community. Droitwich Spa Town Council took the issue on board and now dates for a Westlands site visit with Wychavon Highways Partnership Unit are being drawn up.

Residents, who are also running a petition for action, complained that Scotlands flats dwellers were not using spaces designated for them and instead clogging up neighbouring roads. They say vehicles often block driveways and parking on both sides of the road causes a hazard.

After speaking about the problems at a town council planning meeting, Councillor Eve Freer (Lab - Droit.West) and Cllr Terry Spencer (Con - Droit.SouthWest) are due to attend a site visit with traffic chiefs.

Cllr Freer, whose daughter lives in the road, said the current situation was horrendous. She claims cars are parked bumper to bumper on both sides of the road and could create a hazard for emergency vehicles.

"It's about time something was done. The town council wants to organise a site visit with the highways unit and we are now working on dates."

A Wychavon highways spokesman confirmed the unit was aware of parking issues in Paddock Way.
