BARNT Green Spartak have made their first signing of the close season.
The Midland Combination division two champions have snapped up Earlswood Town goalkeeper and captain Pete Maguire.
Boss GJ Singh believes he has made a shrewd capture and said Maguire was one of the best stoppers in the division.
Elsewhere, Spartak expect to be playing their football in division one from August despite applying to join the Midland Combination premier division.
Singh's side, who will be ground-sharing with Midland Alliance outfit Alvechurch next term, had hoped to be leapfrogged to the premier to make up numbers, but have been told it is unlikely by league officials.
Singh added the club would find out for einite one way or the other following a league meeting early next month.
