ANOTHER gruelling trip beckons for Worcester City with tomorrow's visit to Folkestone Invicta (3pm) but spirits are high and the omens look good for the St George's Lane club.

John Barton's side have produced the club's best unbeaten start to a season since they won the Southern League title in 1978-79 and visit the New Pavilion looking for a fourth successive win.

Monday's 4-0 victory against Moor Green briefly put City on top of the Dr Martens Premier Division for the first time since 1995-96, though Tiverton Town displaced them after defeating Bath City 2-1 on Wednesday.

Folkestone, who claimed an impressive 2-1 victory at Newport County on Saturday, will prove another test for City despite a number of injuries.

Neil Cugley's side chalked up a 2-1 win in the corresponding fixture last year and will be buoyed by their excellent result against the Exiles, although they have yet to win at home this season.

However assistant manager Mick Tuohy is revelling in City's own early season form and is just hoping they can steer clear of injuries.

"At the moment we are just trying to keep a lid on things but it is one of those situations where you are starting to pinch yourself," he said.

"To be honest I'm glad Tiverton replaced us at the top because the expectation here is so high.

"It all depends whether we can keep away from injuries but if we can, who knows?

"Hopefully we will be in the position to improve on last year, that was our aim at the start of the season.

"We've had a difficult two-and-a-half years to deal with but now I hope John gets the plaudits he deserves.

"The main thing for us is to keep picking up points.

"From our point of view, with new players on board, the biggest incentive is the two big home crowds we have had. All of a sudden people are coming out of the woodwork and you realise the massive potential at the club.

"But that is all it is at the moment, just potential. We've still got three or four players short of full fitness and we feel we can get better.

"Defensively we have not conceded, Danny McDonnell has made a good start and critically the belief is there.

"We might not win every game but we don't think we can lose."

City are back at St George's Lane on Monday when they entertain Tamworth (7.45).

The reserves are in action at St George's Lane tomorrow (2.45) when they play Hinckley United in the Icis Midland Combination Reserve Division.

Formcast: City to continue their unbeaten start with a 2-0 win at Folkestone.
