GET your toddlers toddling and help raise money for disabled children in Worcestershire.

Actor Christopher Timothy has launched the Foresters Big Toddle for Barnardo's to encourage under-fives to take little steps for a giant cause.

The Toddle is the biggest sponsored event for toddlers in the UK, with hundreds of organised half-mile walks taking place in June.

One of the projects that will benefit from the fund-raiser is the Worcestershire Short Breaks Project, which provides short break care for disabled children and their families.

"I think it's a great idea," said the All Creatures Great and Small actor.

"I've got seven children and know how hard it must be for some families today. So I hope mums, dads, nursery nurse and carers will be encouraging as many toddlers as possible to take part, have a great day out and support Barnardo's work in the area."

Record turnout

This is the sixth year that pint-sized fund-raisers have helped raise money for other children in this way and organisers are hoping for a record turnout of youngsters, family and friends.

One of the walks is at Dudley Zoo and Castle on Thursday, June 16.

There are two ways to take part - join in the fun of a planned Barnardo's event such as the West Midlands event at Dudley Zoo and Castle, or organise your own toddle. Those who organise their own toddle get to keep 25 per cent of the sponsorship money for their own group or local good cause with the rest going to Barnardo's.
