TIME is an increasingly rare commodity but those people who do have some spare are wanted by a local charity organisation.

The Worcester Lions Club is run by volunteers who give their time and energy to help people who need it.

The Lions' motto is "we serve", but Theresa Walker, Press Officer for Worcester Lions Club, said in order to serve the community, the Lions needed the public's support.

"Without the support of the public, we cannot keep our motto 'we serve' to the fore," she said.

Fund-raising

"We do a lot of fund-raising events throughout the year so please keep your eyes peeled and ears open for future events - and we do need your support with donations!"

Fund-raising events include the popular Proms Picnic - due to be held again in 2004 - and a stall at the annual Victorian Christmas Fayre, in Worcester, among others.

Mrs Walker said the club had also been extremely busy with social activities around the city, including a Ten Pin Bowling afternoon and a St George's Day supper, that was so popular it was over-subscribed.

The club also runs monthly bingo nights for senior citizens and any residential homes needing help with a bingo night, or wanting to attend a session already running, can contact the club.

Information

"We are always looking for new members, male and female, and anyone who feels they could spare some of their time to help others in the community can phone me," said Mrs Walker.
