A BIKER died after his motorcycle was in collision with a car in Eckington.

A female driver and male passenger in the car were released by fire crews.

The woman was taken by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital, while the man was airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital.

The accident, which involved a black Peugeot 306 XT and a blue Yamaha XJR 1300, happened on Sunday, May 25, at around 1.43pm.

The male rider of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. Formal identification has yet to take place.

The collision happened on the A4104 Pershore to Upton-upon-Severn road, near the Pershore side of the B4080 Eckington junction.

A diversion was put in place via Birlingham village while the occupants of the car where freed from the wreckage.

Man is critical after smash

A 23-YEAR-OLD man was critical in hospital this morning after a head-on collision on Saturday.

Robert Watson was flown to Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham, by air ambulance following the accident, at Laughton's Cross cross-roads, near Leominster, at about 6.10pm.

He suffered multiple fractures to both arms and both legs, as well as injuries to his abdomen and chest.

The driver of the other car, who has not been identified, was also injured and taken to Hereford General Hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Three passengers were also taken to hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries.

In total three ambulances attended the scene, as well as the air ambulance.

A spokesman for Selly Oak hospital said Mr Watson remained critical this morning, but could not confirm where he was from or give any other information.
