STOURPORT Swifts made it four draws in six Dr Martens Western Division games as they held high-fliers Mangotsfield United at Walshes Meadow.

And manager Dave Titterton said he was happy with the 0-0 scoreline, particularly after Swifts had lost out to two of the bottom clubs in the last month.

Titterton said: "Since Warwick, we've had two good performances. Mangotsfield are a good team and we've got to give them their due but we matched them all over today and passed it as well as we could."

After being under pressure for much of the game, Swifts could have snatched an unlikely win late on when leading scorer Richard Ball turned in the area only to send his shot just the wrong side of the post.

But the visitors dominated the first half with an assured passing game that would have secured all three points had it not been for the exploits of Rob Clarke in the home goal.

The Swifts keeper was forced to make four saves in two first-half minutes as Adam Sims, Gareth Loydon, Jack Pitcher and Jason Drysdale were denied in quick succession.

And when the West Country side finally found a way past Clarke, Shane Hobbs saw his lob come back off the crossbar.

Titterton added: "Clarkey is a good shot-stopper and that's what he's there for, to make saves like that."

The veteran keeper was again alert as he twice saved with his feet early in the second half, including once at the feet of league top-scorer David Seal.

But after those initial scares, Stourport got the measure of their opponents without really troubling keeper Paul Thompson until midway through the second half when he had to beat away a John Shirley shot.
