A REMINDER that the hall committee will be meeting on Tuesday, May 6, at 8pm instead of the Monday, which is a Bank Holiday.

The talk on The Forgotten Airforce in Singapore and Malaya billed for May 22 is being postponed until October 23.

Most people will already have had leaflets about the spring fair on Saturday, May 3, from 9.30-11.30am but this is yet another reminder, as the money raised is an important boost to village funds. If you need someone to collect from you please telephone 633475. Bric-a-brac, books, toys, home-made cakes and plants will be very much appreciated - but no jumble.

The next musical event in the hall will be An Enchanted Evening on May 10 at 8pm when the distinguished soprano Sue Black and four companions present a varied programme of popular music. Sue Black herself has performed widely on the operatic stage and the concert platform, and also teaches at Malvern College. Her companions for the evening are Kate Bennett, also a soprano, David Bennett (tenor) and Tim Cranmore (bass). Their accomplished accompanist is Geoff Kerr. The programme will include light classics by Gershwin and Irving Berlin, with a selection of popular operatic pieces by Mozart, Verdi, Lehar, Sullivan and Strauss. Tickets are £6 for adults and £3 for children. Seats/tickets can be reserved by contacting Allan Wood on 633698.

The Pilates tutor Joy Pearman will be starting a new afternoon course of keep fit classes for men and women on May 12 from 2-3pm. This may well be of interest to older people. It will run for six weeks at a cost of £21 or £4.50 per session. Joy is on (01432) 820484. Bring a mat if you can! The improvers bridge club restarts on April 29 from 2-5pm and every Tuesday for 12 weeks. Anyone of any standard can join, contact Neville Shorrick on 633475 for details.
