THE first of four Fly Fishing courses takes place at The Lenches Lake today and has already been fully booked.

Courses will follow the Salmon and Trout Association syllabus and will be staffed by fully qualified and experienced instructors.

Shimano (UK) Ltd are the main sponsors of the annual event and they are providing a top of the range Technium Diaflash rod worth £130 for the most promising youngster over the four sessions.

Further courses will take place on Wednesday, May 28, Satur-day, July 6 and Thursday, Octo-ber 30.

Maximum participation for the beginners course is ten per session, hence the capacity for today being quickly reached.

ELEVEN members turned out for another round of the Bradford and Bingley Spring Trophy at a private lake near Stratford last Sunday.

A severe north easterly wind blowing across the lake made fishing difficult and the fish failed to show in any quantity.

Clive Harman led the pack home with a net of 2.3.8 made up of chub and silver fish.

In second place was new member Ron Williams (2.2.0) and in third was was Wayne Panting (1.2.0).

In the first round of Partne-rship's Knockout Cup, Ray Woods got the better of Rita Barnett.

Members wishing to fish the next round of the Bradford and Bingley Trophy are reminded to meet at the venue for the draw at 8am.
