John Wardle has been involved in local government at many levels.

As well as representing Wolverley as a parish councillor since 1949, being elected chairman on five separate occasions, he was chairman of Wyre Forest District Council in 1984 and 1991/92.

During his chairmanship of the county council he became their representative on the West Midlands Employers Organisation and an active member of the Environment Agency's flood defence committee.

He was one-time chairman of the bench, and the longest serving magistrate in Kidderminster.

He visited Germany, Portugal, Jamaica and Malta as a member of fact-finding and consultative visits.

He served for 18 years as a member of the West Mercia Police Authority and is presently a member of the local police consultative committee and an Independent Police Custody Visitor.

John is a governor of Wolverley High School and president of the County Association of Local Councils, for Worcestershire.
