WYRE Forest Brintons put on their best display of the season to reach the semi-finals of the West Midlands League Cup on Saturday.

They beat league runners-up Hinton 3-1 and will play either Bridgnorth Town Reserves or Malvern Town Reserves in a two-legged last-four clash.

Forest Brintons scored inside 10 minutes when a cross from Darren Raybould found Andy Oakes and he scored with a powerful header just inside the near post.

Lee Jordan doubled the lead when he applied the finishing touch from close range.

The home side had a lucky escape when Ross Semple's shot hit the post and the ball rebounded straight into the arms of keeper Wills.

Hinton began the second half strongly, gaining a lot of possession, but it was Forest Brintons who went three up.

Oakes chased a long ball and picked his spot in the far corner, giving Blackman in the Hinton goal, no chance.

Hinton's consolation arrived when Duncan Flowers handled in the box and Semple scored from the spot.

Blackman pulled off two late saves to deny Oakes and Raybould.

This was a good team performance from Forest Brintons with Andy Bayliss impressive in midfield.

The date of the semi-final clash is yet to be confirmed.
