THREE players are unlikely to figure again in Kidderminster Harriers' season unless they sneak into the play-offs.

On-loan midfielder John Melligan, scorer of 11 goals, has been ill and went for tests on suspected appendicitis.

Defender Adie Smith aggravated his sprained knee in the 2-0 defeat to Wrexham and will miss Saturday's visit to Hull's new stadium.

Melligan and Smith join defender Kenny Coleman (stomach) on the sidelines until the end of a campaign which boss Ian Britton wants to finish on a high.

Harriers must win their final games against Hull and Bristol Rovers, while hoping for major slip-ups from their rivals, if they are to make the top seven.

However, Britton, who took a team of young trialists and youth teamers to Rushden and Diamonds for a friendly yesterday, has Bo Henriksen back from suspension and Lee Ayres returning to fitness from an ankle injury.

Ayres is one of a string of players whose contracts are up in the summer and Britton will speak to them once the season ends before announcing his retained list.

Also near the end of their deals are midfield generals Danny Williams and Sean Flynn, wideman Sam Shilton, keeper John Danby, defender Dion Scott, recent signing Hugh McAuley and teenager Inderpaul Khela.

Britton has already indicated another out-of-contract Harrier, Ian Foster, will not be part of his future plans.

The Kidderminster manager felt Harriers deserved to win Monday's 0-0 draw at fellow play-off hopefuls York.
