THE Bill Greaves Terrace was named after the former Kidderminster Harriers chairman who was a prime mover in its construction.
Greaves, a lifelong Harriers supporter, was a much loved and respected figure at the club.
He replaced Lionel Green as chairman during the 1972-73 season and continued to head the board until he suffered a stroke in the summer of 1978 and died on September 3.
The Bill Greaves Terrace, which cost £30,000, opened for fans on April 10, 1979, and replaced the old stand which was damaged by a gale in 1976.
At that time, Harriers were playing in the Southern League and were watched by an average of less than 500 fans per game.
The terrace currently houses 1,648 standing supporters as well as refreshment kiosks.
The Shuttle Times & News is looking for memories of the stand from Harriers fans who can write to 6 Towers Buildings, Blackwell Street, Kidderminster, Worcestershire DY10 2DY, or e-mail james.reece@midlands.newsquest.co.uk
