RIVALS Swifts and Redditch United are set for another player tug-of-war for former Birmingham City striker Dennis Bailey.

Bailey, freed by Halesowen Town, scored for Swifts in Saturday's draw with Telford United but has also lined up for Redditch in a friendly.

Swifts player-boss Tim Langford wants the 36-year-old to play in tonight's friendly with Worcester City but Redditch also have a home match with Stafford Rangers.

Langford said: "We have made Dennis an offer but other clubs are interested."

Stourport and Redditch, who are managed by former Swifts boss Rod Brown, face a transfer tribunal over Alex Cowley who has moved to the Valley Stadium.

Meanwhile, Bailey will be best remembered for a hat-trick for QPR at Manchester United's Old Trafford, the last man to perform such a feat.

Lambeth-born Bailey emerged from non-league football when Crystal Palace plucked him from Farnborough in 1987.

The 5ft 10ins striker went on to join Birmingham for £80,000 and score 23 league goals in 75 games between 1989 and 1991.

Further spells followed at QPR, who paid £175,000 for him, and at Gillingham along with loan periods at Bristol Rovers, Charlton, Watford and Brentford.

Bailey's non-league return has taken him to Cheltenham when they were promoted, Forest Green, Tamworth and Halesowen Town.
