BRINGING new signings into Walshes Meadow is proving a challenge for Stourport Swifts boss Tim Langford.

Swifts, who have lost players through outgoing transfers and injury, are becoming increasingly short of numbers.

But Langford confessed he has been frustrated in his efforts, though he still hoped to make at least one addition in time for the league game at home to Solihull Borough on Saturday.

Swifts' lack of January action and a heavy 4-0 weekend defeat at Cirencester has pushed them down to 11th in Dr Martens League Western Division but with games in hand.

Langford, due to speak to a striker tonight over a possible move, said: "We have lost three players and have two long-term injuries in Willie Dunn and Mark Dearlove.

"Ross Knight is back in light training but I'm still out and we will both be at least three weeks.

"If we get any more injuries, we're going to be short. We definitely need additions to the squad if only to keep the first-choice players on their toes.

"I've been busy on the phone over the weekend and watched a game on Tuesday night. But I've got to learn to deal with the knock-backs.

"You tend to think your club is the best and if someone's playing for a struggling club or one in a lower league, they will sign for you but that's not the case.

"One player I wanted who is with a club in the bottom three of the Western Division wants to stay there and help them get out of trouble.

"I just have to grin and bear it, look for the next one and sell the club to the player to the best of my ability."

Saturday's game will pitch together two excellent records with Swifts strong at home and Solihull excellent away.

Swifts knocked them out of the FA Cup 2-0 earlier in the season.

Langford reflected: "We've only played one league game this month but with the numbers in the squad I'd rather have the points than games in hand at the moment.

"Solihull are an improved side now but we've got a good home record, having only lost to Halesowen Town and Evesham in the league."
