TONIGHT'S clash between Stourport Swifts and Redditch United (7.45) has all the classic ingredients for a grudge match.

Former Swifts manager Rod Brown returns to Walshes Meadow and both clubs are in dispute over illegal approaches to players.

Further spice is added to the match with the fact that several Swifts' old boys, including assistant manager Gary Whild, ex-captain Lea Shaw and coach Brendan Hackett have also switched allegiance to the Reds.

A Birmingham County FA enquiry was due to meet last night to consider striker Lee Booth's move to the Valley Stadium. Lea Shaw's switch to Redditch via Bilston Town was also due to be discussed though the FA's decision will not affect tonight's match.

But despite the saga Swifts' player-manager Tim Langford insists there is no animosity between the players and hopes his in-form team can build on their impressive 3-0 win at Mangotsfield which moved them back into the top six.

Redditch remain rooted near the Dr Martens Western Division relegation zone and Brown is waiting on news of Mark Swann (thigh) and Paul Danks (back) who are both doubtful.

Langford is relishing the contest and is set to field an unchanged side from the weekend despite his own successful return to action.

"We are on a bit of a roll and I'm really looking forward to it but I'm approaching it just from the view of another game," he said.

"There's no grudge on the pitch, possibly there is more for the supporters, although I suppose our players would want to show Rod Brown that he made the wrong choice but I'm sure he is saying the same to his players."

Redditch's assistant boss Gary Whild, who was Brown's right-hand man at Swifts, said: "They are favourites but if you look at the league as a whole there are no particular easy matches and if we get it right on the night I think we can give them a game."
