THERE were no punches pulled by manager Ian Britton after Saturday's 2-0 defeat against Macclesfield.

Angry Britton insisted: "Too many players let themselves and the supporters down.

"We didn't do the basics right. We didn't work hard enough, we weren't committed enough and we didn't show the desire.

"We lost with a whimper. After beating Hull last week, they have come back down to earth with a big bump. The score could have been embarrassing.

"I will learn more collectively and individually about these players with the way they respond.

"I hope they can take this result and performance on board and learn from it."
