ANDY Bishop, Kidderminster Harriers' best player over the last two games, revealed his main goal is to reach the play-offs with his loan club.

The 20-year-old from Walsall bagged two goals in the 3-2 weekend win over Bury and then impressed in Tuesday's 3-1 defeat at home to Oxford United.

But Bishop, who has bagged four this season, stresssed all scoring targets were at the back of his mind as he aims to fire Harriers back towards the top seven.

He said after the Bury game: "I don't really have my own personal target, it's just to get the team into the play-offs.

"I have had a bit of a dry spell with goals and I was taking a bit of stick off the lads so I was happy to score.

"The defenders are strong in Division Three and like to kick you! It's a lot more aggressive compared to reserve-team football at Walsall.

"I've been happy to come here and get experience as it's only my first professional contract at Walsall."

Bishop added: "This is a very important spell for us. The lads have been really disappointed by the way we have been playing in recent weeks.

"We showed what we could do in 80 minutes against Bury and though we lost our way in the last 10, we were pleased with the result.

"The gaffer wasn't happy with the way we defended at the end of the game and he was right. We're the ones out on the pitch and we've got to sort it out."

For Ian Britton, the Bury win was possibly inspired by the embarrassing Worcestershire Senior Cup exit to Bromsgrove days earlier.

Britton said: "The defeat against Bromsgrove kicked them up the backside a bit. I think some of them realised they might be out of a job at the end of the season."

Tuesday's Oxford defeat is likely to have offered another stark reminder of that fact.
