DION Scott's main priority is to eventually earn a longer deal at Kidderminster Harriers and he will have done his cause no harm in his first two games.

The 22-year-old defender helped Harriers to a clean sheet against Bournemouth and secured them Saturday's point at Carlisle with a header.

Scott is certainly enjoying the rare chance of regular first-team football.

He played just four games at Walsall and spent time on loan with Boston before Mansfield signed him in the summer.

But Scott did not appear for their first team with a shoulder injury holding him back.

He admitted: "First-team football's all I've really wanted. I did have a bit of bad luck with injury but now the gaffer has given me the chance here.

"It's good that I'm playing and the team is doing well but my main priority has to be to get a longer-term deal here. There's a good set of lads who've made me feel welcome and a good team spirit.

"It's been quite a good start for me with a victory last week and a point at Carlisle with my first Football League goal.

"I would have preferred it to be the winning goal. But it did get us back into the game and got us the point we deserved.

"I just tend to go up for corners to cause a bit of mayhem and don't expect to score but the header felt good."

Scott added: "We started the game quite well but had a bad patch in the middle of the first half and could have defended the goals better.

"We made amends for that in the second half. I think we switched off a few times during the match but we showed good character.

"Carlisle were fighting for pride after losing in midweek so a point's a good thing."
