A FIREMAN had to be lowered down the face of a cliff in Leach Green Lane, Rednal, to rescue a dog trapped on a ledge. The animal, which was none the worse for its ordeal, belonged to Mr Johnson from Leach Heath Lane.

THE death occurred of well-known Bromsgrove tradesman Thomas Guest from Marlborough Avenue. He was the son the landlord of the Greyhound pub at Rock Hill when it was a home-brew house. Later he was apprenticed in the grocery trade and in time opened his own shop in Droitwich. Then in partnership with his brother-in-law J Weaver they established two grocers' and a seed merchant's shops in Bromsgrove.

THERE was good news for the few people in Bromsgrove and Droitwich who owned TV sets. The government was about to mount a huge campaign designed to encourage owners of older cars to fit supressors to ignition systems to stop picture interference.

FILM fans at the Plaza Cinema in Bromsgrove had donated the grand sum of £34 to be spent on a Christmas party for its "Mickeypops Club," which had close on 1,000 members. They would enjoy a free film, stage show, tea and receiv
