DEFENDER Dion Scott has one main aim - and that's to stay with Kidderminster Harriers.

The determined 22-year-old moved to Aggborough on a non-contract basis from Mansfield Town last month and soon made his full Football League debut in Harriers' 1-0 home win over Bournemouth on February 4.

Then, in the following match at Carlisle United, he managed to get on the scoresheet in a 2-2 draw.

And now he's hoping to impress sufficiently to persuade boss Ian Britton to make his stay at Aggborough more permanent.

The Birmingham-born six-footer said: "First of all I would love to stay here for the rest of the season and hopefully prove myself to the gaffer.

"If all goes well I would love to stay beyond that."

Since arriving at Aggborough, Scott has been enhancing his reputation as a no-nonsense defender.

He said: "I'm not the most talented footballer you will every see but I can head and clear the ball away, that's what I'm best at. I leave the skilful stuff to the lads around me!"

Scott joined Walsall when he was 15 at their Centre of Excellence. They offered him a contract when he was turned 16 and he went on to captain the youth team and play for the reserves.

He struggled, however, to make the first team and eventually moved on to Mansfield.

A shoulder injury hampered his progress and following a change of manager he was allowed to go.

He said: "I would have liked to have had the chance to prove that I can play at Second Division level, but on the other hand, it's given me the opportunity to come to Kidderminster and play first team football."
