IT was business as usual at the North Herefordshire Hunt point to point as jockey Julian Pritchard scored a convincing double aboard Well Ted and Cider Man taking him on to 289 career wins and the second most successful point-to-point jockey since the war.

The win aboard Well Ted for trainer Dick Baimbridge was typical Pritchard as he sat well off the pace on the first circuit delaying his move until half way home on the final circuit where Well Ted cruised past his 12 rivals to score easily by two-and-a-half lengths from Thatsforeel with Chestnut Wood a further three lengths back in third.

Cider Man, trained by Janet Hughes for her father Ron Bunn, has always been held in high regard and the eight-year-old turned in another improved performance in the first division of the Restricted Open scoring by 12 lengths from the also highly regarded Just Cliquot.

Janet Bunn said of her winner: "He's more relaxed this season and Julian has been down schooling him and very delighted. I suppose an Intermediate will be next".

Veteran trainer Baimbridge also scored a double at the meeting as he sent out Norther Deal in the hands of Adrian Wintle to easily take the Confined race after making almost every yard of the running.

Baimbridge said of his two winners: "They will both have at least a fortnight off, they're like me and need a bit of time between races nowadays".

The Gerrard sponsored Ladies Open race saw a tremendous finish as at the second last fence it seemed as though Jelly Nolan aboard Damp Course had just done enough as they two lengths up but Emma Lones aboard Hee's A Dancer used her considerable flat race skills to good effect to get a renewed challenge out of her mount to get up close home and score by half a length.

Bredenbury trainer Simon Sherwood is still best remembered for his association with Desert Orchid but he sent out ex-chaser The Writer to support his local Hunt and The Writer in the hands of Rob Hodges gamely held on from the chasing Ginger Fox to give his wife Lucy her first pointing winner.

The final two Maiden races saw popular local wins Arctic King, ridden by Steve Llod for Hay on Wye owner Arctic King, and the meeting closed with victory for owner Stan Turner's Ashgreen who beat Stockton Wolf and Kirkfield.
