WORCESTER City Council is inviting up-and-coming young sports stars to show off their skills as part of the BBC's biggest-ever search for new sporting talent next month.

'Born to Win' is a TV competition where youngsters could win a life-changing sports scholarship, tailor-made to suit winning contenders in any sport.

Sports Development Officer Clare Nichols has described it as a 'once-in-a-lifetime chance for Worcester youngsters to prove their mettle and show off their sporting skills'.

"There's a terrific amount of sporting talent in the city and I'm confident that we can continue to put Worcester on the sporting map with success in this golden opportunity to shine.

"The competition is open to anyone aged 16-18, it doesn't matter what sport you play, or at what level, you've just got to have what it takes to win" she said.

Worcester is staging a local trial at Perdiswell Leisure Centre on Sunday, March 16 between 1-4pm.

"You need to register and then you'll be invited to take part in the local trial," said Nichols.
