A SITAR player is being sought by Worcester groups who wish to pay homage to a television presenter, all for charity.

The George Cowley Experience is looking for someone who can play the Asian instrument, which first made an impact in Britain in the 1960s when the Beatles experimented with it.

For Comic Relief, the George Cowley experience, named after Worcester's most prolific letter writer, is recording a CD and looking for someone who can help to add an Asian influence to a song about BBC weather girl Shefali Oza.

The group intends to record the song on Monday, so sitar players will need to act fast.

"Shefali really brightens up our day and everyone loves her," said Pete Unwin, from the band.

"We just feel we need a sitar to do our tribute to her justice."

Anyone who can help should contact Mr Unwin over the weekend on 07789 675051.
