Sgt Brown, of the Malvern Police Force, is being transferred to Oldbury. His departure will be regretted both by his colleagues and all in the town who know him, and a great many do.

He is a very courteous and obliging officer and has gained the esteem of a wide circle of friends here. Malvern Gazette, February 20, 1903.

Tenley Albright, 17-years-old daughter of Major Hollis Albright, an American surgeon who was stationed in Malvern during the war, has become the first American girl ever to win the world figure-skating championship.

At Davos, Switzerland, this attractive, blonde young skater won unanimous favour with the judges when she outclassed 19 competitors from eight countries - an achievement all the more to be cheered because Tenley was in 1947 a polio victim. Malvern Gazette, February 20, 1953.

At the annual meeting of the Ledbury Young Conservatives Association, held at the Feathers Hotel on Friday, the secretary, Miss S Alexander reported a successful year's work, with all committee meetings well attended. Hundreds of Malvern schoolchildren were given an extra day's holiday on Tuesday in the aftermath of the overtime ban imposed by the oil tanker drivers.

Over 1,400 pupils from the Chase High School were sent home as the last of the school's three boilers ran out of fuel. Malvern Gazette, February 23, 1978.

A call for volunteers to run the heritage centre, which is to be established in Church Lane, Ledbury, has received an enthusiastic response from the townspeople.

Five local organisations have all undertaken to provide all the necessary people to man the centre, which will be housed on the ground floor of the Old Grammar School. Ledbury Reporter, February 23, 1978.
