CHILDREN from Great Malvern Primary School were given a taste of the world of web development last week.

A group of year six pupils visited Serco Consultancy at Malvern Hills Science Park to take part a workshop on web development on Thursday.

Colin Banks, a business manager at Serco, is also a parent governor at the school.

He combined his interest in the children's information technology tuition with assistant head Stuart Bill's interest in the school's website to make the day useful for everyone.

The students were shown how to combine individual photographs into a single panoramic photograph, in this case of their playground.

The resultant photograph will be published on the school's website after half term.

Mr Banks said the children had been very excited by the day's activities.

"They got on well," he said.

Mr Bill added: "We are delighted to have had this opportunity to spend a morning addressing these higher ICT skills."
