MALVERN Hills Conservators is set to publishing a booklet about local bird life.

Birds of the Malvern Hills and Surrounding Areas, due out in the next fortnight, brings together records of all the bird species seen during 2002 by 32 local birdwatchers. It will be available through local bookshops and other outlets.

The compilers hope the booklet will be updated annually, and are eager to hear of new sightings. These can be reported to David Cunliffe on 01684 310752.

The Conservators are also keen to expand the natural history coverage on its website (www.malvernhills.org.uk) and are planning a "stop press" page for the latest sightings of insects, mammals and plants as well as birds.

The success of the page will depend on the enthusiasm of observers, so naturalists are being urged to send in their sightings to conservators@malvernhill.org.uk.
