IN Dazzle, the Colwall Players and Young Colwall Players take an entertaining and comic cosmic adventure.

The musical extravaganza follows Captain Sam Galactica and the crew of the starship Sunburster One as they travel through space to deliver Princess Dazzle Star to the planet Procyon.

On the way they encounter all kinds of unsavoury aliens and creatures but manage to save the universe successfully.

A winning aspect of this production is the involvement of children from the Young Colwall Players who have a fantastic time supporting the lead actors through the musical numbers.

The funniest moment of the show is when, during their song, the swampy monsters disrobe their outfits of slime to reveal Hula costumes with grass skirts and seashell bikinis.

Lee Farley gives a brilliant performance as Captain Sam Galactica, the arrogant, toothy smiled, golden boy of space travel.

His sweetheart, Dazzle Star, is played by Imogen Byers who has an impressive singing voice and maintains her 'Essex girl' act until she is revealed as the daughter of a space aristocrat at the end of the show.

The other adult members of the cast support the couple in style, particularly Angela Meredith, who manages to sing delicately about Chinese takeaway as Miss Suey, and Marilyn Middleton, who is hilarious as the communist alien Big Olga.

Overall, Dazzle was a varied, unusual production that was enormous fun to watch.
