UPTON played at home in glorious sunshine to local rivals Pershore, the home side taking a week out from their league programme.

UPTON LADIES 3, PERSHORE LADIES 0

Upton started strongly moving the ball round the pitch and producing some fine flowing hockey, keeping Pershore under pressure.

Upton's first goal came from a well worked cross from Sally Loynes on the right, finding Paula Sayers on the left in the D, to slot home inside the left post.

This first goal settled Upton and they began to work the gaps round the field. Upton's strong and tireless midfield of Charlotte Underwood, Martha Recordon and Laura Smith, providing a strong base for Upton to work from.

Upton's second came from a fine run through from midfield from Charlotte Underwood, driving through Pershore's defence and producing a rasping shot from just inside the D, stranding Pershore's keeper.

Upton continued to dominate and were unlucky not to be 3-0 up at half time, this time Martha Recordon driving through from midfield, producing a tremendous strike which just came off the wrong side of the post, and subsequently evaded Vanessa Dawe following up on the left wing.

Upton continued strongly in the second half. Pershore put up a good fight but Upton's defence held strong with Sylvia Gillham and Trudy Warner repelling any Pershore attacks.

Pershore produced a couple of short corners but again Upton's defence held firm and keeper Sue Murphy was rarely called into action.

Upton extended their lead when Martha Recordon collected a loose ball cleared by the Pershore keeper to put Upton 3-0 up.

Upton return to league action next week and will be hoping to continue their recent good form.

Many thanks to Jeff Robinson for umpiring.
